Friday night, it’s the end of the working year and day 3 of the 12 beers… time for a big bottle of Jolly Pumpkin. Described as a Belgian strong ale, 7.5% with Cacao, cinnamon and orange peel, it sounds like it should be ideal for this time of year.
The pour starts out with a big creamy head, reasonably quickly falling back to a light lacing on top of a dark amber body.
First sip and it’s very light, with a nice well balanced sourness. There’s a barley wine feel to it, with some sour cherry going on. The cocoa really gives some depth of flavour to it… very tasty!
