There were a few Mikkeller contenders for my line-up this year, but this was the one that got the nod. It almost certainly could have had a couple more years hidden away, but it’s one that I’ve wanted to open for a while now.
It pours thick and syrupy, with no head. Black, nothing else.
It’s very boozy, that’s for certain. Probably to be expected at 12.12%.
Flavours are predominantly dark chocolate bitterness and espresso, with a milky sweetness that offsets things nicely. Some liquorice going on too. Getting walnuts on the finish.
It’s an impressive beer, but maybe slightly underwhelming compared to what I expected.
